Allied Office Supplies closed long ago. The old store was photographed and the logo added in by me to show what it looked when I worked there.

1974-1975 Allied Office Supplies of Rutherford New Jersey

My cousin Gilbert used to work here. He got a job at Shop Rite which paid more money because he would be in a Union. So he recommended me to take his place. After a brief interview I got the job. I was in my Sophomore Year in High School. Now I attended school in the mornings and was off in the afternoons. I worked at Allied after school. I worked for Murray Bedrin and his two sons Paul and Gerry. I worked as a stock boy and did the shipping and receiving of all of the office supplies. The front part of the store sold gift items. This was Murrays domain. I would help him set up displays to attract buyers to the product. This is called merchandising. I did some of this at Druckers with the window dressing now I was doing it here with in store displays. They sold office furniture too. I would go out sometimes with their delivery guy Ben and we would set up the furniture together at the customers site. I was very good at that. I had a lot of experience building models cars, so I could look at a pile of parts and figure out what goes where real fast. I had a lot of fun working here.
