National Camera of Englewood Colorado

This was my 2nd correspondence course. I took this course out of neccessity. It also turned out to be the best investment of my entire life. As a teenager I was not making much money at my part time job after school. Sometimes my cameras would break down or need an adjustment, and the local camera repairman would charge a lot of money for a minor job. I also knew these cameras contained thousands of parts and were not to be taken lightly. I found an ad for this correspondence course in camera repair in the back of Popular Photography magazine. I could pay for it in monthly payments so this made it a go for me.

I signed up and like the School of Modern Photography they would send me instructions and homework through the mail. They would send me real cameras with defects to analyze and repair. I loved this course and I was delighted. I did well and the material inspired me. I started drawing out and sketching my own designs for camera equipment as a result. You can see those drawings in the (Early Years) section of this web site. Because of what I learned in this course I got my first full time job at the worlds best camera repair shop when I was 18, which started me on the path to become the engineer I am today. I completed this course in 1977.
