The New York Institute of Technology at Broadway in Manhattan
After studying and building circuits with digital electronics, I decided I wanted to go to school for computers. This time I wanted a degree. But I would have to go part time at night because I still had to work to support myself. Also, I did not have a High School Diploma. I searched high and low and found one school that would take me. This was NYIT. I had to enroll as a non matriculated student and take 12 credits per semester for 2 semesters. Once I had completed the 24 credits with a GPA above 2.5 I could submit them to the New York State Education Department whereupon I would be awarded a GED diploma. Once I got that I would become fully matriculated and my credits would be applied towards my degree. I did go for 2 semsesters but I only made 21 credits. I took a course in BASIC with Dr. Steven Billis. I loved it so much I started writing games on my TRS-80 computer, but I was jaded by all the non computer courses I had to take to get my degree. I dropped out after the 2nd semester in the summer of 1979. I wanted to get to the goal in another way.
