Star Trek aired from: Sept 1966 to: June 1969 in 80 episodes

What can I say here? This is without a doubt the greatest science fiction television series ever created in the entire history of the planet earth. I started watching this show when I was 8 years old and I kept on watching it for many years after it went off the air but as syndicated reruns. Star Trek not only presented a crystal clear vision of what a high tech future could be with space ships and interplanetary travel, it also presented a vision for the future of racial and ethnic relations. The Star Trek crew was truly diversified in terms of race and ethnicity. Yet they functioned as one single cohesive unit that could handle any crisis.

I have never seen such a perfect assemblage of complimentary characters in a single TV show since that time. Of course back then with me being a big fan of the US space program, which I followed in great detail, and also an inherent gadget freak, I could not get enough of this show. The warp drive engines, photon torpedoes, phasers, and transporter systems fascinated me to no end.
