My wife and I had 2 kids by now and we wanted a bigger place with a better environment for them to grow up in. So we moved to the suburbs. As soon as we moved there we missed the pool we had in Brooklyn. So we priced out in ground pools and we found the prices to be too high for what we were getting. I figured I could build this myself. When I embarked on this project I had no prior experience. I went around talking to different pool dealers to try and buy the parts and they would just laugh at me and tell me to go away because they would not sell me the pool kit without the installation. I finally found a pool kit manufacturer who would sell to me directly. When I was asked, which kit do I want? I thought about all those pool guys who laughed at me. So I said: "Give me the biggest one that you make!" I then designed the project and built it. It was in the local newspapers for it twice and the pool guys were not laughing at me anymore, because I broke the lock they had on the knowledge of how this is done and now I was giving it away for free. Enjoy!
