Rutherford Senior High School in Rutherford New Jersey
Rutherford High was a big turning point for me. When I got there I was a real rebel. In the 9th grade I clashed with the Dean of Students, Mr. Jim Fury many times. But after 64 detentions and 9 suspensions things started to change. In the 10th grade, I started taking a correspondence course in Photography. I became a freelance reporter for the local newspapers. My photos and articles were published with bylines in both of them. I joined the Graphics Arts club, which was later changed into the Photography club of, which I became president. I was elected to the student council and was on it for 2 years. My grades started to go way up into the A range, and in my 11th year I was offered the opportunity to take Junior Courses by day and Senior Courses at night at Passaic evening high school. This way I could graduate on time with my age group. I jumped at this chance and made full maximum scholastic honors for 4 marking periods in a row. At the end of the school year in 1976 they told me I had to return next year to take Junior and Senior gym classes. I walked out.
